Tyrann Mathieu: Tom Brady 'Called Me Something I Won't Repeat'

As Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took a 21-6 lead over the Kansas City Chiefs in the first half of Super Bowl LV, the defending-champions Chiefs' star safety Tyrann Mathieu had something to say.

Brady and Mathieu got into a heated exchange after Brady threw a touchdown pass to Antonio Brown that had the refs giving Mathieu a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.

After Brady went on to defeat Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, Mathieu turned to Twitter to express his thoughts on how social media responded to his heated exchange with the seven-time Super Bowl champion.

“He called me something I won’t repeat but yeah I’ll let all the media throw me under bus as if I did something or said something to him,” Mathieu wrote a now-deleted tweet.

“I never really saw that side of Tom Brady, to be honest," Mathieu told reporters in a Zoom interview after the Chiefs' loss. "But whatever. I’m over it. No comment."

After discussing the exchange, Mathieu said he thinks Brady is a great quarterback.
