Try This Quick Exercise Boost To Get Your 2021 Routine Off To A Great Start

It's 2021, and that means that everyone is looking for the next big thing to take their workout routine to the next level.

Vogue offers a fitness tip that may help you do just that. It involves a short, quick burst of exercise over those long, draining workouts.

The article describes the movement as a "snack," a pick-me-up that could help you get through those midday blues when all you want to do is lay your head down and close your eyes.

As described, science says that “brief, intense spurts of exercise can have huge benefits for our fitness levels."

So what exactly is a "snack" when it comes to fitness? Think climbing 60 stairs as fast as possible, which should take only about 20 to 30 seconds.

Those that have been testing out the new "snack" form of fitness have seen their aerobic fitness improve by about five percent, not bad for 20-30 seconds of your time in the middle of the day.

Other "snacks" that you can try include squat jumps, burpees, lunges or high knees.

“Something is always better than nothing,” says personal trainer Alice Liveing.

“Movement is crucial to our wellbeing, and short bursts of it can help to contribute to overall daily energy expenditure as well as improving cognitive function and mood."

Of course, as the article admits, doing "snacks" should not take away from your regular routine workouts in the morning or afternoon or whenever your schedule permits them. Still, giving "snacks" a try could be a great way to get to the next level - and overcome those midday blues.
