Fear not, football fans. Beginning this spring, you'll no longer have to wait the six months between the time the Super Bowl ends and the fall NFL season begins to see competitive football. FOX Sports is launching the United States Football League, providing pigskin fans with a football fix from mid-April through mid-June with playoffs to follow.

And the USFL won't limit games to weekends. In addition to Saturdays and Sundays, the FOX Sports-owned league will also play select games on Mondays and Fridays.

Now that your summer viewing schedule has been set, here's what you need to know about the USFL.

There will be eight teams in the new USFL, split into two divisions –– North and South. Each team will play a 10-game schedule, with teams in the same division playing each other twice and teams in the other division once. The top two teams in each division make the playoffs.

In the USFL's inaugural season, all eight teams will play in a singular location. This will change in future seasons with teams playing in their own markets.

Brian Woods, who founded the Spring League which played from 2017 to 2021, and is a co-founder of the new USFL –– will serve as the league's President of Football Operations.

Former Dallas Cowboys fullback Daryl "Moose" Johnston, a three-time Super Bowl champion, will serve as the league's Executive VP of Football Operations. Recognizable officiating voice, Mike Pereira, the current NFL and college football rules analyst for FOX Sports and a former NFL VP of Officiating, is on board as the USFL's Head of Officiating.

Additionally, FOX Sports’ Edward Hartman will serve as Executive Vice President of Business Operations.

The experienced crew should bolster the new league and provide fans with a familiar and competitive on-field product.

"I am confident Brian, Daryl, Mike and Edward have the passion, experience, and commitment we need to get the job done, so come April, we will offer a compelling, high-quality game of professional football that fans will embrace," said FOX Sports CEO and Executive Producer Eric Shanks in a statement.

FOX Sports is an official USFL broadcast partner and will air games weekly.
