The Tampa Bay Rays Offense Wakes Up To Even Series 1-1

Critics pointed to a struggling Tampa Bay Rays offense for falling down 1-0 in the World Series, but they finally turned it around tonight besting the Dodgers 6-4. With the series now tied at one, Los Angeles now throws their ace Walker Buehler in a crucial game 3.

Rays outfielder Brandon Lowe escaped his slump going deep in the top half of the first. Not to say Tampa was letting the World Series get away after losing just one game, but his early homer set the tone going forward.

Tampa's bullpen uncharacteristically struggled, giving up homers to Dodgers' Corey Seager in the eighth, Chris Taylor in the fifth, and Will Smith in the sixth. Regardless, their bats led to what Fox's broadcast pointed out to be a "must win"

Highlights

Dodgers' ace Walker Beuhler toes the rubber Friday night and he matches up with Rays hurler Charlie Morton. Although Buehler is considered to be the more talented pitcher, Morton is a proven "big game" player. There's something about the bright lights that brings the best Charlie Morton to the mound.

Analysts mostly had the Dodger lineup dominating this series, but Tampa plans to impose their will from the mound. L.A. just threw out a reliever, better known as an "opener", for game 2 and that could potentially be a factor in game 3. The pressure is now on Walker Beuhler to not only dominate, but to pitch deep into Friday's game.

Most of us are rooting for the Cinderella story Rays, but we'll have to see if uncle Charlie Morton has another big game gem in his back pocket.
