The Red Sox Suck, So Does The Farm, Who Will JD Martinez End Up With?

The Boston Red Sox’s 2020 season has been an abomination. Seems that trading slugger JD Martinez is the only way back to contention. A team that spends as inefficiently as an unhappy wife can count on trading away superstars down the road. This one stings(not as much as Mookie tho…)

One question remains: Where will JD go?

Tampa Bay Rays

Tampa’s #1 rated farm system could be too much for Boston to pass up. JD Martinez helping a Rays offense put games away for a dominant pitching staff WILL be enticing. The Rays have a clear window of opportunity with injuries to the Yankees’ Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, and DJ LeMahieu. The Sox can take advantage of their contention to restock a farm system of their own(rated 25th by MLB.com)

St. Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals don’t have a farm system to get excited about, but they’re known for being aggressive. St. Louis was deep into trade talks with the Rockies for a Nolan Arenado mega-deal, but COVID scrapped the talks. The Boston Red Sox need aggressive trade partners with an eye for short term success. JD Martinez to the Cardinals is the ultimate short term move with the addition of the universal DH.

Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers punted on moving super-reliever Josh Hader last offseason, doubling down for the short term. This is a team with pressure. Pressure to win now with the assumption the front office won’t spend big to keep it together. Milwaukee seems like the perfect fit for a JD Martinez-bandaid. Penciling Martinez behind a struggling Christian Yelich alleviates their offensive woes. Boston should clean any team of big time prospects in a “win now” situation.

Red Sox fans look away

The squad is in last place behind THE BALTIMORE ORIOLES having just traded their best player(Mookie Betts) of the decade for peanuts. Poor spending(or lack thereof) should excite baseball fans around the world. JD Martinez is up for grabs and his price tag dwindles the further we go into the season. There’s no crying in baseball, but the looming Boston-JD trade could put a tear to Sweet Carolina’s eye.
