OutKick's Most Popular Markets In 2020

It's very early in 2021, but the past two days have been the most read days in the history of OutKick's website. Indeed, yesterday we had over a million people reading the site, which is an absolutely monstrous audience for any independent site, especially one founded by someone who started writing online back in 2004 with an audience of zero.

Thanks to the work of our writing and tech staff, we are now comfortably one of the ten largest sports websites on the Internet and the largest completely independent sports site in the country. That's an incredible accomplishment.

For years, I have been sharing with our audience the internal data from OutKick's Google Analytics because, I'll confess, I'm a data nerd who likes to see where our readers are coming from. So here's the data from 2020 as it pertains to our top markets and top states.

Before I give you those rankings, however, a couple of additional data points: we had 25.5 million users on the OutKick website in 2020 and 55.6 million sessions. And direct traffic is our number one traffic source, which our CEO, Sam Savage, tells me is very impressive.

And, again, 2021 is off to a roaring start, the best two days in the history of the site were Sunday and Monday of this year.

It's fair to note that these rankings are not adjusted on a per capita basis, so big cities and big states are likely to dominate these raw number lists.

But, regardless, this data is a testament to our OutKick employees.

They've done a phenomenal job in 2020.

Thanks to all of them and to all of you.

2021 is going to be a lot of fun. Buckle up.
