The Braves Brace For Another Player On The IL, Max Fried Out Again

The Braves, who are already four games back in the division, have placed left-hander Max Fried on the 10-day IL with a blister. Fried was one of the only arms they could rely on, so this is really unfortunate news. Aside from the Hawks, Atlanta just can't seem to catch a break.

Right-hander Kyle Wright has been called up in his place.

After a dismal start to his 2021 campaign, Max Fried has given up fewer than three runs in seven of his last eight starts. He was supposed to start Wednesday, but now that start will likely be tossed to Kyle Wright.

Can Wright fill the void?

Well, he can probably be serviceable, and that'll have to be good enough. A season ERA of 4.15 on just one start having hurled 4.1 innings against the Cubs. More than likely, Wright will show he can hold his own in the big leagues and help when Fried returns.

Atlanta needs pitching like Joe Biden needs his eight hours and morning pudding, so if they can find reinforcements in their farm, then awesome. It'd still be better not to get hurt in the first place though.

Kid has nasty stuff, and the Braves put him to the test tonight against the Mets. Let's roll.
