The American Dream: Florida Man Drives His Lawn Mower Across The State For Charity

Florida man Chip Hawthorne accomplished a goal Thursday that many men dream of yet never accomplish over their lifetimes. Chip jumped on a lawn mower and set off on a 130-mile ride across the Sunshine State to raise money for Habitat for Humanity, calling his adventure a 'Mowathon' and calling in help from the likes of Kurt Angle, the Hodge Twins, YouTuber Ginger Billy and Bri Strauss from 'The Bachelor' to help promote his big ride.

Chip set off from the Atlantic coast in Titusville Thursday morning around 6 a.m. with a destination of Spring Hill where he dipped the Toro mower's toes in the Gulf of Mexico and showed off for the crowd on the beach by doing donuts in the sand.

Total time of the trip: 13 hours.

"This fundraiser event was hosted in order to raise funds for the West Orange chapter of Habitat for Humanity, where all proceeds go directly towards building houses for people in need," Chip explained.

"We are grateful and overwhelmed with the support from our local community."

Along his journey with the stars and stripes blowing in the wind, Chip stopped at a Toro dealership to grab some fuel and get some food as the journey had left the man needing his own fuel.

There's living the dream and then there's going for a 130-mile ride on your mower on a Thursday as the bright sun beats down on man and his riding mower.

"I need to take some Advil and eat dinner," Chip said from the shores of the Gulf of Mexico after spending a grueling 13 hours on the mower.

Guys, get out there and leave your positive mark on society. If it's riding a mower 130 miles on a Thursday, get to it. If it's helping out those in need, do it up. If it's helping a neighbor in need, by all means, don't be shy. Chip's just a guy who loves mowers and came up with a plan that worked and was a huge hit across central Florida. Oh, and the ride has raise $9,000 for Habitat for Humanity. Not a bad way to spend a Thursday in April.
