If you grew up watching baseball before launch angle and strikeouts, you’re probably stoked that Nike just announced the return of the Air Griffey Max 1s.
Yes, they’re made by sweatshop Nike, but no brand can ruin the “Fresh Water” Griffeys we grew up on. If anything, these shoes throw us back to a time when the company wasn’t run by social justice panderers.
Our favorite pair of kicks finally returned, the Air Griffey Max 1. 😍

Did you cop the Freshwater?
White, teal and black is a colorway you don’t see much of anymore. They give off a 90s feel, and as we know in any other genre of fashion, styles always come back. Okay, maybe not Ed Hardy, but most other trends catch on at some point in the following generation.
We can’t stand Nike, yet we may have to grab ourselves a pair of the old Griffeys. The only trouble I see is what on earth to wear with these shoes? Outside of tracksuits, there’s not much else in the current generation that makes sense. Maybe tracksuits make a comeback, too?
They release sometime this week, so keep your eyes peeled.
You can’t stand Nike, yet you’re gonna get a pair? Some moral standard. China is enemy number 1 of this country, no?, and Nike is hand in glove with China, let alone the absolute repugnant, vile and evil treatment of Christians and Muslims in that country.
Well said!!
Black, white & teal… very 90s! You know there’s a matching track suit on a sale rack somewhere!
It has been really interesting not buying Nike this past year. I don’t miss their product too much and have found some better products.
I love these shoes and so many more from the 90s. I still don’t know what “Zoom Air” is but I needed it in Junior High. My parents would never pay for these when I was a kid. Now my conscience won’t let me
Not stoked made in china slave labor under and oppressive govt and nobody seems to give a fuck no thanks
I understand Gary’s dilemma. China is awful and I do hate Nike, but every time I see a pair of Jordan 11’s or these shoes, it takes me back to my childhood. I will pass, but it is tempting.
This just proves that nothing new or original has happened since the 90s ended.
