Rams Out Of The Running For Falcons WR Julio Jones

The rumors about Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones continued on Sunday, as reports from Los Angeles stated that the Rams were yet another team in the mix to acquire Jones' services.

Less than 24 hours later, the Rams have taken themselves out of the running for the wide out threat.

One reason the Rams were likely interested at all was the fact that Rams GM Les Snead worked in the Atlanta front office when the Falcons drafted Jones some 10 years ago.

The salary of Jones is one major reason that teams hesitate to make an official offer. The pass catcher has a $15.3 million base salary and a signing bonus.

Whether Jones can maintain the same production levels as he gets older has to be considered as well. Last season, at the age of 31, Jones played in just nine games due to injury.

In those games, he pulled in 51 catches for 771 yards and three touchdowns.

While the Rams may be out of the running, there are plenty of other teams interested in Jones. One will eventually pull the trigger and make a deal for the future Hall of Fame pass catcher.

Among the teams interested in Jones include the New England Patriots, the Tennessee Titans, the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers.
