'Succession' Latest: A Very Dysfunctional Family

HBO released a new trailer for its upcoming third season of Succession on Friday.

The third season will focus on Kendall finally turning on his father, Logan, and forcing the rest of the Roy family to choose a side. HBO has teased this moment since the first episode after Logan told Kendall he would not take over the family business as expected. Kendall vs. Logan is sort of like Jaime and Cersei Lannister, but without the sex.

Here is what a civil war looks like in 2021:

Succession's new tease also gave viewers a look at Alexander Skarsgård, who will guest-star as an unlikable tech founder this season. No, he isn't playing Mark Zuckerberg.

I expect Succession to draw a substantial audience this year between HBO and HBO Max. While Succession doesn't have the widespread interest of HBO's past signature shows -- such as Game of Thrones, Sex and the City, and The Sopranos -- it is the network's most popular current program. And despite for different reasons, both critics and viewers have awarded Succession with acclaimed reviews and accolades.

Succession's third season debuts on HBO on Oct. 17.
