Folks, the last thing you want to do is get into a deep thinking, science-based war of words with the Steak-umm brand Twitter account as big thinker Neil deGrasse Tyson has done this week. Steak-umm blew its meaty top Monday night over a NGT tweet stating “the good thing about science is that it’s true, whether or not you believe in it.”
BOOM…an instant Twitter beef. My brain isn’t big enough to know what’s really going on here, but I can read tweet body language and Steak-umm clearly has a bone to pick with a guy who has one of the nerdiest resumes in scientific history. NGT doesn’t even bother listing his accolades in his Twitter bio. “Astrophysicist” is all he has to list and people go, “Woah, he’s not to be f–ked with.”
Well, Steak-umm, which is best known as the DIY meat of the homemade cheesesteak industry, clearly doesn’t mind an intellectual battle with Mr. Astrophysicist. Don’t forget that Steak-umm was founded by a food technologist who is also credited with inventing popcorn chicken. You’ve met your match, deGrasse Tyson!
So far, Neil has yet to directly engage with the shaved meat account. This isn’t the first time Steak-umm has been triggered by NGT. It looks like this meat vs. Mr. Astrophysicist battle has been going on since way back in 2017.
Never underestimate that shaved beef you’re crushing at 2 a.m. after closing down a bar.
the irony of neil’s tweet is that by framing science itself as “true” he’s influencing people to be more skeptical of it in a time of unprecedented misinformation. science is an ever refining process to find truth, not a dogma. no matter his intent, this message isn’t helpful https://t.co/sf4zLm33Jm

nope. science itself isn't "true" it's a constantly refining process used to uncover truths based in material reality and that process is still full of misteaks. neil just posts ridiculous sound bites like this for clout and he has no respect for epistemology

the role of science communicators has arguably never been more important than it is today. people need more relatable, nuanced explanations that encourage critical thinking and less pompous, clout-chasing sound bites that sow polarization

EMINENT PHYSICIST: [reductive summary of his complex discipline]
FROZEN MEAT BRAND (@steak_umm): Actually, as Kuhn argued in "Structure of Scientific Revolutions," science is fluid and we should be open to abandoning — rather than reifying — paradigms that no longer fit the ev https://t.co/QhrG9pohYV

Dude may be an Astrophysicist, but I’m pretty sure this isn’t Rocket Science.
Wow. Imagine getting completely owned by the social media account guy/gal of a random meat product. Ouch.
He IS NOT a deep thinker.
He is his own PR/Propaganda machine.
And fairly close to Lunch Pail Joe when it comes to his “writing”.
I don’t know why Steak-Umm is veering into this debate, but it is funny. How long before woke Steak-Umm higher ups force feed us an apology for taking on the “esteemed”, know-nothing clown.
just remember,
it’s ARBY’s that “has the meats”
I need to see a triple threat match between Arby’s, Wendy’s, and Steak-umm
The crux deGrasse Tyson’s tweet is “listen to us and do what we say because we know better than you.”
Curious how this “eminent physicist” has advanced the field, beyond being a museum tour guide and self-styled expert (read: blowhard). His entire career has been Appeal To Authority and praise from the clapping seals that comprise his audience.
Science is for sale to the highest bidder.
We are all rocket scientists now
