Saturday night’s alright for fightin’ and we are going to pummel your bookie with premium college basketball picks in tonight’s action. So get ready, it’s time to come out swingin’!
7:00 PM ET Charleston at NC-Wilmington
Pick: Charleston -3
Best Line Offered: Bookmaker
Chances are you don’t know jack about these teams because you’re not an alumnus of either school and the Colonial Athletic Association sounds more like a gym for old, rich guys rather than a legitimate college hoops conference. But that’s why you have to do your homework, go to SBR Picks to get opinions, and scout these lesser known teams because the squares are lining up to bet on the big games and the oddsmakers don’t pay much attention to these lesser heralded contests because there’s no action moving the number either way. That’s why these small spots on a huge Saturday card are perfect for betting because the lines don’t move much and there’s plenty of value to be found.
In this case, we just love the road favorite and although that seems like a square side, don’t be deterred because the Charleston Cougars are not laying nearly as much as they should due to their 80-76 win earlier this season over NC-Wilmington but failing to cover the 11-point impost. Now they are only being asked to lay three-points in hostile territory against a team that is a woeful 9-18 straight up this season and a dismal 9-14 ATS (against the spread). This will be the first of our three college basketball picks tonight and it will also be the first to bring us the cash!
8:00 PM ET Colorado at Washington
Pick: Washington -3 ½
Best Line Offered: BetOnline
The Huskies are 13-3 straight up at home while the Buffaloes are a horrendous 1-8 straight up and 2-6 ATS on the highway. In addition, Colorado is 0-4 ATS over the last four occasions in which they have been 3 ½ to 6 point road underdogs. This is exactly the situation in which Colorado finds itself tonight and the Washington Huskies proved less than a month ago against this same Colorado team that they are the far superior squad when they captured a 72-62 win in Colorado as five-point road underdogs. Now they are coming into this one as the favorite after dropping their last three, all as the underdog, to teams much better than the one they will face tonight.
So here it is in a nutshell. The Buffaloes are coming off a 73-69 loss as 3 ½ point road chalk to a team in Washing State that was just 1-10 in Pac-12 play this season. Now they are supposed to hang on the road and match up against a much more talented Washington crew and are getting only 3 ½ points to stay within the margin? No way, no how and not on this planet amigos. The Huskies need a win and they find themselves perfectly suited to repeating their performance against this same Colorado team they trounced just less than a month ago. I say they do it all over again and don’t be surprised one bit if this is another double digit victory on the Huskies’ home court. 8:00 PM ET North Carolina at Louisville
Pick: North Carolina +1 ½
Best Line Offered: JustBet
Chances are the 1 ½ point head start we are getting with the Tar Heels won’t mean anything but we will take it anyway. North Carolina should match up well against the Cardinals here as they have won and covered their last four contests. Louisville has split their last four games both straight up and ATS as they prepare for the Heels, a team they lost to 74-63 as 7 ½ point road underdogs last year in Chapel Hill.
We are siding with the visitors for a number of reasons and one of which is that the Cardinals’ leading scorer Deng Adel is questionable due to an ankle injury that has sidelined him for the team’s last two games. I also like the fact that North Carolina is a team that doesn’t turn the ball over often which is a key to Louisville’s success. In addition, the Cardinals have struggled this season against upper tier clubs and will be beaten throughout the game on the glass by the No. 1 team in the nation in rebounding, the North Carolina Tar Heels.
