Zach Edey Calls Out Tennessee Coach After Advancing To The Final Four

Zach Edey came with some receipts after beating Tennessee.

Edey and the Purdue Boilermakers beat the Volunteers in an awesome Elite 8 game that was easily one of the best of the tournament.

Matt Painter's team is moving forward. Rick Barnes' squad is going home. The highest of highs. The lowest of lows.

Well, Edey drove the knife a bit deeper following the massive victory.

Zach Edey calls out Rick Barnes for overlooking him.

Edey revealed that Barnes apparently went to some of his practices as a recruit, but didn't really pay him any attention. He didn't forget.

"There are so many coaches that looked over me. Name a program, I can name a coach that looked over me. At Tennessee, Rick Barnes is a great coach, but he was in a bunch of our practices, looked over me. Has kind of been the story of my life. People have doubted me, people look past me. Can't do that anymore," Edey told the media after punching his first ticket to the Final Four.

It's clear Edey is a bit bothered by the fact so many coaches overlooked him as a recruit. Well, I'd say the 7'4" center got his revenge in the end.

He turned into the best player in college basketball, puts up video game stats on a regular basis and is now playing in his first Final Four.

He blasted Tennessee in the Elite 8 and then called out the team's coach for not viewing him as a serious prospect. Matt Painter sure did, and that worked out well in the end.

Edey just couldn't pass up the chance to pour a little salt in the wound of a coach who overlooked him in his eyes.

Next up is North Carolina State, and it should be an epic game Saturday. Let me know what you think at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
