The Most Frustrating Player In College Basketball Won't Return For Another Season

Big Ten basketball fans, you can take a long and hard sigh of relief because the biggest terror in the conference will soon be gone.

Zach Edey has been a star at Purdue since arriving as a freshman for the 2020-21 season, and has been an unstoppable force since his sophomore year. The young man is a 7'4" freak of nature that has frustrated and brutalized just about every team he's faced.

Well, the B1G's long and never-ending nightmare is coming to an end. Instead of using his extra COVID year of eligibility, Edey is done with the Boilermakers once the season concludes, head coach Matt Painter told Jon Rothstein.

While he could play one more year elsewhere, the only reason to leave Purdue is to pursue a professional career. Expect to see him in the NBA draft this upcoming summer.

Zach Edey is leaving Purdue once the season is over.

I can't even begin to tell me how happy I am to know the Wisconsin Badgers and no other B1G team will ever have to face Zach Edey.

Being 6'10" is a big guy by college standards. If you have a front court that goes 6'10", 6'9" and 6'8" across the front three, then you're likely going to be just fine.

Zach Edey is 7'4". It's ridiculous what he's been able to do during his time in the conference with Purdue. This year alone, Edey is averaging a staggering 23.7 points per game, 11.8 rebounds per game and 2.2 blocks per game.

There is pretty much nothing more frustrating and infuriating than watching Edey dominate your team on the glass for the entire game. Again, he's 7'4". How is he supposed to be stopped? He towers over other seven footers.

Now, the days of having to deal with Purdue sticking a 7'4" alien in the lane to clog things up will soon be gone, but before it ends, there's a good chance Purdue wins a Big Ten title and possibly punches a Final Four ticket. On behalf of all B1G fans, I'd like to congratulate Edey on an awesome career. Now, please get the hell out. You won't be missed. Let me know what you think at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.
