Filthy Rich Yankees Are Charging $15 To Put Sponsor Patches On Fans' Jerseys

The New York Yankees are getting absolutely ripped by fans after a new promotion allows fans to get the ‘Official Sponsor Patch' by Starr Insurance added to their jersey for the lovely cost of $15.

Say what?

I know that I speak for the majority of diehard Yankees fans when we all respond with a resounding, "Hell no."

STARR INSURANCE PARTNERED WITH THE TEAM LAST YEAR

Fans began noticing the promotion during Friday's Opening Day at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx when the team hosted the Toronto Blue Jays.

"Add Yankees Starr Insurance Patch to Your Jersey," multiple signs read across the concourse with a giant $15 next to it.

What's crazy about this is that it's bad enough that the historic New York franchise sold out and added a giant patch to their iconic uniform in the first place last season. But to then blatantly, arrogantly and absurdly ask if fans want to PAY their hard-earned money to add it to their personal jerseys? Are you kidding me? Talk about being tone-deaf.

Imagine what George Steinbrenner is thinking right now. Seriously.

Well, you don't have to imagine - just look at some of the Yankees faithful's responses to the crazy idea.

Last season, Starr Insurance made a $20 million annual agreement with the Yanks that would allow the ‘Starr Insurance’ patch to be displayed on the jersey sleeve until 2031.

Yankees fans were not pleased whatsoever. It's not like they are the Oakland Athletics after all, they're the New York Yankees - with PLENTY of money. At the time I wrote an article about Starr and the Yankees new partnership as quote, "The Yankees Are Sell Outs." And this is coming from someone who literally has gotten into fights with Red Sox fans because I love the team so much!

The Yankees have without a doubt one of the most iconic jerseys in all of sports. They are one of only two MLB teams that still don't put a player's last name on the back. The blue and white pinstripes are legendary and are a testament to the team's 27 World Series Championships.

It was bad enough when you added a sponsored patch to it. But to then try and con fans into purchasing it as an add-on?! AN INSURANCE COMPANY?!

Do better, Yanks.
