Sting And Eminem Are Headlining USGP, And Some Fans Are Not Happy About It

The Miami Grand Prix is this weekend, but it's the United States Grand Prix that has some fans talking after the oldest of the three US-based Grand Prix announced that Sting and Eminem will headline this year's festivities.

But some fans were not happy about this.

Now, you can't please everyone when it comes to music, and I would argue that Sting — assuming he leans into his solo hits and his work with the Police and not that crappy Renaissance music nonsense he got into later (no one likes lutes, sorry) — would please most people. I know I'd be excited.

However, before this announcement, Circuit Of The Americas Chairman Bobby Epstein hinted that this year's concert would be the biggest since Taylor Swift headlined in 2016. So, they were offering to buy back fans tickets.

General admission tickets originally sold for $299, with the USGP brass buying them back for $350 because they figured that they'd sell for much more than that once the Sting-Eminem double bill.

However, their cryptic messaging about how this was the biggest performer since Taylor Swift, led some fans to think that country superstar Beyonce (calm down, I'm kidding) would be performing. I don't know why they thought this. I think it's just that she's from Texas, which was a dumb assumption. Britney Spears, Bruno Mars, and Billy Joel have all performed there too, and none of them have anything to do with Texas.

While some fans were pretty pumped about Sting and Eminem, other fans were disappointed that the announcement wasn't for someone "bigger."

But, hey, this is the internet. Since when is someone's dopey assumption going to keep them from getting angry?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I suppose. Personally, I'd rather listen to Sting fart "Baby Elephant Walk" through a didgeridoo than ten minutes of Beyonce, but that's just me.

Well, anyone who would rather sell their Formula 1 tickets than listen to Sting and/or Eminem has plenty of time to resell their tickets, since the race weekend isn't until October.
