Social Media Destroys Falcons For Drafting Michael Penix Jr.: REACTIONS

Social media was on fire when the Falcons drafted Michael Penix Jr. Thursday night.

The Falcons stunned fans when they drafted the former Washington QB eighth overall after signing Kirk Cousins to a contract worth up to $180 million.

It was absolutely a shocking pick that doesn't seem to make a ton of sense on the surface. Burning a first round pick on a QB after adding Cousins doesn't really add up.

Social media roasts Falcons for drafting Michael Penix.

Well, the internet did what it does best and unloaded with plenty of hilarious reactions. Check out some of the best below, and hit me with your thoughts at David.Hookstead@outkick.com.

I think it's safe to say this pick isn't going over well at all. Not even a little bit. The wildest part, as many have pointed out, there was no need to take Penix at eighth overall. The Falcons could have traded back and grabbed him maybe 15+ picks later.

The team could have loaded up on draft picks and still gotten their guy. Instead, Penix was off the board at eight and social media is going crazy.

It's moments like this one that remind us just how fun the internet can be. Best of luck to Penix and Falcons leadership. Seems like both are going to need it.
