Shaq Sports Jimmy Butler Emo Hairdo, Says He'll Keep It For A Month If He Gets A Better Wig

Shaquille O'Neal paid homage to Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler's infamous emo hairdo from the team's media day early this season.

Of course, that wasn't by choice. Instead, it was the result of a lost bet… a mysterious lost bet.

Shaq eased late to the set on Tuesday night because he was getting every faux follicle placed just where it needed to be before making his grand entrance.

"My boy, Slice, hooked me up with a dude in Atlanta who does man units, and it didn't turn out," Shaq said.

If Shaq was going for Butler's infamous look from earlier this season, it was almost there. I think it looks a little too Austin Powers-ish — especially with the turtleneck — and not quite enough "I listen to My Chemical Romance on a loop for hours on end" the way Butler's did.

Still not terrible though.

Shaq got a proper ribbing from his TNT cohorts Candice Parker and Jamal Crawford, but it was going to take more than that to keep Shaq from doing away with the do.

In fact, he said if he can get a better wig, he's open to keeping that look for an entire month.

Hold on. hold on, hold on: anybody in Atlanta that can do a mean unit — a man unit like this — holler at me I'll do it," he said. "Like a real one. For a month; I'll do it for a month."

I think I speak for everyone when I say I'd like to see this happen. Sure, having to go with a goofy hairdo because you lost a bet (which, if that's true, it's weird that they never said what the bet was) is a bit of a hack move. However, what would make it hilarious was that if someone showed you a bunch of pictures of Shaq — or his alter ego, DJ Diesel — you could pinpoint when some of them were taken because they'd all be from that weird month in 2024 when he walked around with emo hair.
