Insane Video Shows A Boys Rowing Team Being Shot At During Race In Sacramento
A boys rowing team competing in a regatta in Sacramento, California was shot at during the middle of the race in what turned into a wild and horrifying scene.
Video shows the Oakland Strokes team, made up of nine teenage boys, rowing in a race on April 20 on the Sacramento River when gunshots can be heard ringing out. The video was captured by one of the parents, and just seconds in, you can both hear and see three rounds being fired and causing splashes in the water just feet behind the boat.
Fred Ackerman, a parent of one of the teenage boys nearly shot during the race, told KTVU, "I was pretty shocked. I think all of us were. It's horrifying, to think in this peaceful, green setting, the final push of this race - to see and hear that."
Nobody managed to see the shooter after the random gunfire rang out.
"No one saw the shooter," Ackerman continued. "There were dozens and dozens of people, there were boaters and people walking around on the trail. Police don't know where the shots came from, but they do know it was a gun."
As for the kids not reacting as bullets whizzed by their boat, they were focused on finishing the race, and the thought of being shot at undoubtedly never crossed their minds as they were in what anyone would have said is a safe space.
Nobody was injured, thankfully, however, the shooter is still on the loose.
West Sacramento Police are investigating the situation.
In August 2023, Sacramento recorded the most gun homicides in North Central California with 609. San Joaquin was second on the list, with 437.
