Fired Ohio State Basketball Coach Owed Massive Buyout

Former Ohio State coach Chris Holtmann has some big money coming his way after being fired.

The Buckeyes fired Holtmann Wednesday after the team fell to 14-11 and 4-10 in the Big Ten after losing Tuesday to Wisconsin.

He finished his time at Ohio State with a record of 137-86, and he can now ride off into the sunset cashing huge buyout checks.

Ohio State owes Chris Holtmann a lot of money after firing the basketball coach.

Ohio State owes Holtmann $12.8 million after firing him, according to a release from the school (via ESPN). His contract ran through the 2027-28 season.

He can cry over being fired while he rides on a yacht somewhere for the foreseeable future.

There are few better jobs in America than being a fired D1 football or basketball coach. The king remains former Texas A&M football coach Jimbo Fisher.

He left College Station with a buyout north of $75 million. It's the greatest buyout in the history of college sports. While Holtmann didn't get that kind of money, walking out the door with nearly $13 million isn't a bad deal at all.

He can move to Florida and spend the rest of his life on a beach if that's his kind of thing. It's simply staggering the kind of money fired college coaches earn at the highest level. The man will earn more money to *NOT WORK* than most Americans would earn in two lifetimes.
