O.J. Simpson's Family Reportedly Will Not Donate His Brain For CTE Research

The family of O.J. Simpson is reportedly planning on cremating his body and will not allow his brain to be studied or researched for CTE, despite multiple requests by doctors and scientists.

According to the New York Post, requests were made by medical professionals to Simpson's family since O.J.'s death this past Wednesday, asking if they would donate his brain for research. The Post reports that Simpson's longtime attorney Malcolm LaVergne said that the family responded with a "hard no."

"With O.J., everything’s wild, but I’ve been getting calls from medical centers that are doing CTE testing asking me for OJ’s brain - that is not happening," LaVergne told the media outlet.

SSIMPSON'S FAMILY REFUSED DOCTOR'S REQUEST TO STUDY CTE

LaVergne says that per O.J.'s wishes, he will be cremated this coming week, which should take place this Tuesday.

In recent years, doctors have expressed interest in former football players and other athletes' brains to study the effect of mass trauma that they experienced throughout their playing careers.

Chronic Traumatic Encephalopath, also known as CTE has been linked to a variety of aggressive and sometimes harmful behavior within athletes, including former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez and Hall of Famer Junior Seau who both passed away, among others.

O.J. suffered multiple concussions throughout his playing days at both USC and while playing in the NFL with the Buffalo Bills. The troubled former football player and murder suspect passed away at the age of 76 due to prostate cancer, surrounded by his family members - all of whom had to sign NDAs before they wer allowed to see him.
