New York Mets Broadcasters Provide Hilarious Play-By-Play Of Two Brothers In An MMA-Style Brawl

The most entertaining part of yesterday’s New York Mets-Houston Astros spring training game wasn’t the game itself.

Houston held a 5-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning. With the rain drizzling down on the players and the Mets (at the time) showing no signs of life, watching the game got pretty boring.

That is, until the cameras panned to behind the outfield walls, where two brothers were watching the game.

Actually, come to think of it, they weren’t watching the game at all. The two fans in question were engaged in a heated MMA-style wrestling match that would determine sibling supremacy for at least the next whole week.

For a significant portion of Jonathan Singleton’s at-bat, the commentators - Keith Hernandez, Ron Darling and Steve Gelbs – provided a thrilling call for the epic brotherly showdown.

"Oh, this is like perfect weather if you’re a kid. It’s hot, it’s raining, it’s gonna get muddy at some point. Little brother is giving the big brother all he can handle," Darling said after the little bro leg-lifted big bro."

Originally, the younger sibling seemed to have the upper hand on the big brother, who was reluctant to fight. He was probably just letting his challenger get some licks in to boost his confidence (I definitely did this for my little bro when he was younger).

But you can only poke the bear for so long before he comes roaring back. As soon as the little brother looked away for just the slightest second, the older brother showed his unsuspecting rival to the ground. That triggered some "Ooooohhhs" from the commentators.

Little brother quickly responded by trying to land a vicious kick with his right leg. But big brother dodged it, picked his opponent up, and smashed him on the ground.

"Oh, that’s getting rugged," Hernandez said after big bro landed the monster move.

Roughly two minutes later, the boys’ mom stepped in to break it up. But everyone watching was certainly glad that they got the most incredible in-game break possible.
