Fans Roast Sports Journalism Legend Bob Ryan For Correctly Saying NBA All-Star Game Stinks

If you thought the NBA All-Star Game was a complete waste of time, don’t worry, so did sports writing legend Bob Ryan.

After watching the East beat the West 211-186 in a game featuring no competitive edge, Ryan had seen enough. This guy knows a thing or two about the All-Star Game and the NBA in general. For 44 years, he covered the NBA as a writer (primarily for the Boston Globe) and is considered by some to be the best basketball writer ever.

As such, he had a thing or two to say about the current nature of the NBA's mid-season event. And he did not hold back.

If you thought that was all he had to say, think again. Ryan offered a second part of his rebuke.

When Ryan offers his perspective on anything NBA-related, people should pay attention because he has a lot of wisdom. And people did pay attention, only to call his perspective stupid.

Most NBA fans would wholeheartedly agree with what Ryan said about the All-Star Game. However, some people vehemently argued that Ryan was out of his depth for his harsh criticism of the event.

Notice how these people didn’t say his opinion was wrong, they just ridiculed him. They couldn’t find any logical points to counteract Ryan’s stance, they just said he was wrong.

Maybe that’s the case because there is no logical rebuttal.

Players absolutely don’t care about the game, and it affects their level of effort. It’s mostly a three-point shooting session with the occasional dunk thrown in to spice things up. No one is saying the players have to treat it like a playoff game. But it’s become a shell of the days when players actually put some effort into the game and made it watchable.

Even so, these NBA fans are entitled to have their own opinion. But there’s no need to insult the intelligence of an expert for having his.
