MLB Team Honors 'Seymour Weiner' During Opening Day Ceremony, And Of Course It's The Mets

The New York Mets honored a World War 2 veteran ahead of yesterday's Opening Day game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

That hero's name?

Seymour Weiner.

… it's going to be a long season, Mets fans.

CAN'T MAKE IT UP

Listen, I'm the last person to mock or make fun of our brave men and women that have or continue to serve in our Armed Forces. They did something that the majority of us could never do.

But you can't blame me - or the hundreds of people on social media - that thought we were in a Simpsons simulation where Bart was prankcalling Moe the bartender and using fake names.

"I'm looking for Seymour. Seymour Weiner."

"Oh, sorry, only I.C. Weiner his cousin is here - call back later."

And the fact that it happened to the Mets of all teams? Whew, can't make it up.

THE METS WOULD LOSE 3-1 TO THE BREWERS

Although part of me kind of DOES hope that maybe Seymour IS making it up and pulling a fast one on the Mets marketing team in hopes that he can enjoy one last laugh at the age of presumably 90+. He deserves it - that's one heck of a run and honestly an AMAZIN' (see what I did there Mets fans?) way to go out on top, just as America did in World War II.

No word on if Seymour took part in the Battle of the Bulge.

Happy Saturday everyone! I'll see myself out.

Enjoy some of social media's fun with this one:
