Jets Owner Woody Johnson Obliterates NFL Network Report Saying He Argued With Coach Robert Saleh

Woody Johnson's habit of wearing that boujee 80-carat diamond chain last season seemed a little out of place because, well, the New York Jets owner is pushing 77 years old, is a former diplomat, and is a conservative.

But after what I just saw on social media Thursday afternoon, the look makes more sense now.

Because Johnson just went straight bully on a business partner.

Woody Johnson Takes To X

Johnson took to his social media feed to refute an NFL Network "report" that stated Johnson and Jets head coach Robert Saleh were seen having a "very heated conversation" at the NFL meetings which concluded earlier this week.

NFL Network anchor Colleen Wolfe cited "a very reliable source" on the network's Around the NFL podcast in relating the incident.

Wolfe said the conversation between Johnson and Saleh got "to the point where it was very awkward."

Colleen Wolfe 'Report' In Doubt

"What were they arguing about?" Wolfe asked.

"Who knows, it could have been about anything. Maybe they were disagreeing on how they like their steak cooked. Doubt that though."

Wolfe later added, "Where there’s smoke there’s fire."

The alleged argument was supposed to have occurred at the league's Monday evening party which coaches, general managers, owners, and maybe a hundred REPORTERS attend every year.

That means, if true, Johnson and Saleh picked one of the most public, open and awful venues in which to argue. So the thing sounds crazy. And unbelievable.

Then again, this also makes it sound kind of not believable: In talking further about the incident, Wolfe said she never said Johnson and Saleh were engaged in an argument although seconds earlier she asked "what were they arguing about?"

Woody Johnson Slimes NFL Network

At any rate, what we now have is a he-said versus she-reported situation.

And it's a tough situation for Wolfe because Johnson was actually supposedly involved in the incident and is refuting it publicly. Meanwhile, she wasn't there. She's citing an unnamed source. She's the only one who has reported this happening and no one else has confirmed it.

She apparently didn't let the Jets answer before running with the story.

And her story leaves questions unanswered.

So it's not a great day to be Colleen Wolfe.

And it's also not a great day to be the NFL Network. The reason for that is Johnson didn't just shoot down one story from a random reporter.

He impugned the entire network and all its reporters by saying this is "yet another irresponsible report from NFL Network."

That suggests Johnson has seen other irresponsible reports from the NFL Network.

So the slime is thick here. It's partly on the NFL Network.

Johnson Owns Part Of NFL Network

And, I got to say, the apparent disgust by Johnson is surprising. He didn't just refute a report and move on. He took a shot.

That shot is aimed at a business partner. No, wait. Not just a partner, but a branch of the league itself.

All NFL teams own part of the NFL Network. That's the only reason the network exists. So the Jets own part of the NFL Network.

And as owner of the Jets, Johnson is ripping a media entity which he owns in part. That's some move by Woody Johnson.

Stunning.
