Darrelle Revis: Tom Brady Was 'Bawling His Eyes Out' When Addressing The Patriots About Deflategate In 2015

The build up to Super Bowl XLIX between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks took a toll on Tom Brady, according to Darrelle Revis.

In the buildup to this epic title game matchup, the most bizarre (and completely ridiculous) scandal rocked the NFL world. After the AFC Championship between the Patriots and Indianapolis Colts - which 14-year-old me was at, cheering for New England - reports emerged that 11 of the 12 footballs the Patriots provided for use in the game were underinflated.

Everyone outside of New England said that this was a competitive advantage that helped the Patriots win, since it (allegedly) helped them grip the ball better in the pouring rain.

Of course, everyone forgot about the fact that the Patriots won by 38 points and were throwing touchdowns to their o-lineman in the third quarter (shoutout Nate Solder). The Colts had bigger problems that day than the PSI of some of the footballs.

Revis Said All The Criticism Brought Tom Brady To Tears

Most people in the media and NFL claimed that Brady helped orchestrate this "devious" scandal to help the team illegally win. However, Brady vehemently denied any wrongdoing to his teammates, according to Revis, who played with the Patriots for that one season.

The cornerback said in an episode of Apple TV+’s "The Dynasty: New England Patriots" that not only did Brady address his teammates in the scandal, he was incredibly emotional in doing so.

"When Deflategate happened and Tom was the headliner of the whole situation, he addressed us as a team," Revis said in the documentary "You could tell he was distraught. He was actually bawling his eyes out in front of us."

Wide receiver Danny Amendola also detailed that it was tough on Brady because his kids were dealing with hecklers at school. Add on being constantly attacked by the media whenever you stepped in front of a microphone, and you can see why the quarterback was a little emotional during that speech.

Eventually, Brady, Revis, and the rest of the Patriots cried tears of joy after beating the Seahawks 28-24. That certainly helped ease the unjustified pain that Brady and his family dealt with leading up to the game.
