Bryce Harper Scratched After Taking 'Freakish' Hit To Head From Mets Catcher
Alright, perhaps that benign throw by Mets catcher Tomas Nido on Monday had more punch to it.
Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper missed Tuesday's game against the Mets because he was dealing with a migraine, according to a team update. Philadelphia went on to shut out the Mets, 4-0, but more surprisingly was Harper's apparent ‘injury’ over a silly throw by Nido.
On Monday, Nido accidentally hit the side of Harper's helmet on a toss back to pitcher Sean Manaea from behind home plate.
Upon replay, the catcher's throw was evidently not deliberate but still managed to shake up Harper, who still completed the at-bat.
Harper played the entirety of the Phillies' win Monday but seemingly missed the following contest stemming from Nido's hit.
File this throw and injury under a "freak accident." Still, Phillies fans are calling for Nido to pay them back in blood!
WATCH:
Since we like to ask tough questions around here, was Tuesday's scratch soft on behalf of Harper, or should Nido stand trial for nearly decapitating Harper with his errant throw?
