Is 'Snowfall' Better Than 'The Wire'?
After the football season, I asked the OutKick readers which TV shows they were watching and which ones I should begin following. Snowfall on FX was among the many answers, popping up a few different times. Snowfall is a crime series in its fourth season that looks interesting based on a few trailers. It turns out, it's not just worth a watch but an all-timer, better than The Wire, at least according to MAL.
A ferocious fight broke out on Twitter Thursday morning when MAL, a previous co-host of The Joe Budden Podcast, proclaimed that Snowfall had surpassed The Wire:
You'd think that tweet is harmless, but it's not. Wire stans are looking for war, always. Surprisingly, so are Snowfall viewers, of whom I guess there are many. Nevertheless, MAL got, what the Twitter users call, ratioed.
Though I feel all nasty TV debates online need my input, as someone who has yet to view Snowfall, I must to sit this one out.
Here's what I can say:
Critics often claim The Wire is the greatest series of all time. I disagree and rank it somewhere below The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, and The Leftovers. That said, I fully recognize The Wire's brilliance from top to bottom. On my list, The Wire is not No. 1 but high.
Unless Snowfall is a top 5 show ever, which seems doubtful, MAL deserved some of the rude tweets he received following his -- not so -- humble opinion.
For those who have watched both shows: which is better?
