Shaq Picks Up Tab For Random Guy's Engagement Ring

NBA Legend Shaquille O'Neal was apparently frolicking in Atlanta when he decided to make a man's day. He allegedly saw someone purchasing an engagement ring and threw his black card down to pay for it. Shaq better cool it with the handouts before he has registered Democrats following him around.

Of course it would've been cooler if Shaq didn't post the event itself to his Instagram, but it's still incredibly generous. We were gonna find out anyway, I guess:

Regardless of how anyone feels about the intentions behind Shaq posting the purchase -- the Big Diesel still had to pay for it. That should be the real takeaway. Most professional athletes, and celebrities in general, lecture us about what we can do for each other. But very few of them actually pull out their wallet and put their money where their mouth is.

As marriage rates steadily decline, it's nice to see a big name reinforce its purpose in society. That's encouraging to say the least.

Any civilian, regardless of wealth, should be applauded for taking action instead of talking about helping the less fortunate. Engagement rings are expensive, so props to Shaq on this one!
