SEC football returns this weekend.
Tuesday, the conference announced each player will wear a small device used to help with COVID-19 contact tracing efforts. The same devices are used in the NFL.
KINEXON produces SafeTags devices. Per the news release, the lightweight wear is about the size of a watch face.
“Through this new relationship with KINEXON, the SEC is committed to using innovative technology to provide solutions for use by our member institutions as we all work to support a healthy environment for student-athletes,” SEC commissioner Greg Sankey says.
“KINEXON provides the SEC with a modern and effective solution to meet the unique contact tracing challenges associated with football.”
“By adopting our technology, the SEC remains at the forefront of innovation in college athletics,” Jim Garofalo, KINEXON executive vice president, comments. “SafeZone will provide student-athletes with a proven modern approach to contact tracing.”
If this works, and it means SEC football, KINEXON has Outkick’s full support.
