Seattle Seahawks Sign RB Adrian Peterson, 36, To Practice Squad

The Seattle Seahawks are adding running back Adrian Peterson to their practice squad, announced Wednesday following reports that AP was set to visit the team.

Peterson's inclusion serves as an immediate response to injuries that have plagued the Seahawks depth chart at running back — bringing in the 36-year-old after his brief stint with Tennessee earlier this season. The Titans-AP relationship ran out of steam when the team waived him on Nov. 23.

Seattle's snowballing issues with their backfield began when lead runner Chris Carson was declared out for the remainder of the season due to a neck injury that will require surgery.

Prior to Week 12's Monday Night Football loss to the Washington Football Team, Seattle declared RB reserves Travis Homer and Rashaad Penny out for the contest based on calf and hamstring injuries, respectively.

The most serviceable running back remaining is Alex Collins, who's also dealing with a groin injury but still spearheading the backfield as they run out of more names.

On Monday, Collins rushed seven times for 16 yards. Quarterback Russell Wilson was the lead rusher on the night with two attempts and 16 yards: a telltale of the failed blueprint for the offense crafted by offensive coordinator Shane Waldron and head coach Pete Carroll.
