Seahawks vs. Niners Thursday Night Football Betting Preview

Special to Outkick The Coverage from OddsShark.com

The Seattle Seahawks have won just two of their first six games of the season and are a miserable 1-4-1 against the spread heading into their Thursday Night Football matchup against the rival San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara.

The Niners, though, are just 2-4 on the season as well, and they're pegged as 6.5-point home underdogs at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com for Thursday night's game. Both teams sit two games behind the division-leading Arizona Cardinals in the NFC West.

Seattle lost its first two games of the season to St. Louis and Green Bay, bounced back with wins over Chicago and Detroit, but heads into Thursday night's matchup off consecutive losses to Cincinnati and Carolina. The Seahawks fell 27-23 at home to the Panthers last week as 7-point favorites on the betting lines.

The Niners are at least coming off a victory, beating the Ravens 25-20 last week as a 2.5-point home underdog; that was their first win since they topped the Vikings back in Week 1.

However, San Francisco has had practically no success against Seattle in recent seasons, winning just one of their last six meetings and failing to cover the spread against them in their last eight matchups dating back to 2011. Seattle is also 7-2 both SU and ATS in its last nine games against divisional opponents according to the OddsShark NFL Database.

Thursday's night total is set at 42 points, with the UNDER having paid out in each of the last five games between the Seahawks and the Niners. The UNDER is also 8-2 in the Niners' last 10 games at home. On the season, however, Seattle and San Francisco are a combined 7-5 on the OVER/UNDER for totals bettors.

Once among the favorites on the odds to win Super Bowl 50, the Seahawks have slipped down the list to +2000 thanks to their sub.-500 start to the season. The Niners, never considered a contender for this season, are well back at +30000.

Kickoff for the game on Thursday night is set for 8:25pm ET at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara. Check out the complete Seahawks vs. Niners matchup report at OddsShark.com.
