Seahawks' Russell Wilson Gets Pins Removed From Finger, Expected To Return Week 10

There is a light at the end of the tunnel for Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and his return to the field after suffering a finger injury in Week 5.

The quarterback, who has been recovering from surgery on his right middle finger, tweeted a photo of one of the pins removed from his finger and captioned it: “No more pin. Time to Win.”

Earlier Monday, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll addressed Wilson’s status with reporters and didn’t provide a firm timeline for his return to the lineup.

“Russ has been doing everything he can do as far as making sure his hand strength is there and all of that,” Carroll said.

Wilson was initially projected to miss 6-8 weeks due to a fractured middle finger on his throwing hand during the Week 5 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. The injury came off an accidental run-in with Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald when Wilson’s hand came down on the incoming DT.

OutKick previously reported Wilson was set to have the pin removed, and if all stays on course, it gives the QB a realistic chance to return from IR and play in Week 10. Seattle has relied on veteran backup Geno Smith at QB in the meantime.

After beating the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-6) 31-7 on Sunday, the Seahawks (3-5) head into a Week 9 bye. Wilson will be eligible to return when the team travels to face the Green Bay Packers (7-1) in Week 10.
