NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport now reports that highly regarded pass-catcher Sammy Watkins is headed for a visit with the Ravens tomorrow. Baltimore is expected to add new names to its receiving corps this offseason — it’s just a matter of who wants to play with Lamar Jackson.
#Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins, one of the top free agent pass-catchers is on his way to Baltimore tonight to visit the #Ravens tomorrow, source said. The #Ravens have been working to add a WR in free agency.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 22, 2021
As Rapoport’s tweet says, “The Ravens have been working to add a WR in free agency,” which sounds like they must’ve already swung and missed on a number of free agents. Lamar Jackson is more of a runner than anything else, so it’s possible that big-time free agent receivers are steering clear of the former MVP.
We’ll likely have a better understanding of Watkins’ market after tomorrow’s visit. But judging off of Baltimore’s desperation to improve its receiving corps, we also might see an overpay.
