NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport now reports that highly regarded pass-catcher Sammy Watkins is headed for a visit with the Ravens tomorrow. Baltimore is expected to add new names to its receiving corps this offseason — it’s just a matter of who wants to play with Lamar Jackson.
#Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins, one of the top free agent pass-catchers is on his way to Baltimore tonight to visit the #Ravens tomorrow, source said. The #Ravens have been working to add a WR in free agency.

As Rapoport’s tweet says, “The Ravens have been working to add a WR in free agency,” which sounds like they must’ve already swung and missed on a number of free agents. Lamar Jackson is more of a runner than anything else, so it’s possible that big-time free agent receivers are steering clear of the former MVP.
We’ll likely have a better understanding of Watkins’ market after tomorrow’s visit. But judging off of Baltimore’s desperation to improve its receiving corps, we also might see an overpay.
Sad to see this, but at least he observed some success to increase his market value.
I’m sure Watkins will pull a muscle at some point during his visit.
LOL
Lamar led the league in touchdown passes in 2019. The offensive line lost Marshall Yanda and Ronnie Stanley last year, the two best linemen on the roster. They got very inconsistent play from center and the right side. Lamar is a legit quarterback – so far, he’s done better than any other in his draft class. The biggest point here though is that the Ravens won’t overpay for Watkins or anyone else. They need a receiver but won’t overpay to add one.
