Saints Wide Out Michael Thomas Set To Return In Wild Card Game Against Bears

The New Orleans Saints could have one of their biggest offensive weapons back this week for their Wild Card game against the Chicago Bears, as wide out Michael Thomas is expected to return to the playing field.

It's been a frustrating season for Thomas, who has missed all but seven games this season due to an ongoing ankle injury.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport tweeted out that Thomas is expected to be on the practice field on a limited basis on Wednesday.

In the seven games Thomas has played in this season, he's pulled in 40 catches for 438 yards and no scores.

Sean Payton was asked about Thomas prior to Wednesday's practice. He took a "wait and see" approach to the Saints star receiver.

"No updates, injury wise. I'm going to see what this week holds," Payton said regarding Thomas.

"Currently he's still on reserve-injured. I know he's been working at it. But we'll get a better feel this week how he's progressing."

With Thomas still on the injured reserve list, the team does not have to officially indicate his practice status on the injury report, which is due to come out later on Wednesday.
