Saints Coach Sean Payton Gives Health Update On Leading Receiver Michael Thomas

Videos by OutKick

It seems like New Orleans Saints wide out Michal Thomas is keeping himself at the top of his game simply by being in the headlines around the NFL.

There was some good news when it came to Thomas over the weekened, and that was the fact that the former Ohio State receiver made nice with his teammates, even catching passes from Jameis Winston on the Saints sideline during their game against the Houston Texans.

The Saints were visitors at Lambeau Field over the weekend, but that didn’t stop the team from taking down the Packers took by a final score of 26-7.

So when will Saints fans get even a glimpse of their number one pass catcher for the 2021 season?

It will be up to the team’s veteran coaching staff to decide if the club should look still to develop the likes of pass catchers Tre’Quan Smith, Q Lil’Jordan Humphrey and Kawaan Baker, or does the team put even more focus on Thomas – working with him to have him continue to develop into a top three pass catcher in the NFL.

“It’s good to have him back,” Saints head coach Sean Payton said.

“A lot of his rehab has been in Philadelphia with his ankle specialist. He had a recheck last week, he’s ahead of schedule. He’s gonna be a big part of what we do, and hopefully the sooner, the better with his recovery.”
