Ryan Fitzpatrick OUT Against Bills After Testing Positive for COVID-19

Potentially big news just broke in the AFC playoff race. NFL Network is reporting that Ryan Fitzpatrick will miss the Miami Dolphins’ Week 17 game against the Buffalo Bills after testing positive for COVID-19:

While Dolphins head coach Brian Flores had announced that Tua Tagovailoa would be the starter on Sunday, Fitzpatrick has honestly played better this year. It would have not been astonishing to see Flores switch from Tagovailoa to Fitzpatrick mid-game, as he did against the Raiders last week and against the Broncos earlier this season.

We will have to see if there are any contact tracing implications in this news. There could also be issues for Miami’s first playoff game, depending on the timing of all this.

If you need a refresher, here are the playoff scenarios for the final seeds in the AFC:

While remote, there does still exist a chance that the Dolphins could miss the playoffs if the Bills, Browns, Ravens, Titans, and Colts all win this week.

  1. i like Fitzy, but this is the perfect moment for Tua. he is much better than we have seen so far. he has been playing careful and a bit tentative.

NFL has several brand new young QB stars coming on and Tua is part of this era of the long range QB. my theory is that QB’s will play longer in this new NFL and Tua may be starting a 20+ year career. (if we even have tackle football in 20 years)
