Rory McIlroy Gives Encouraging Update On Tiger Woods

Rory McIlroy joined Jimmy Fallon Tuesday on The Tonight Show, and the conversation included an update on Tiger Woods and his recovery from his February morning accident that left him with multiple broken bones in his legs.

“I’ve spoken to him a little bit,” McIlroy told Fallon. “He’s doing better. I think all the guys have reached out to him and hopefully if things go well over the next week or so, he might be able to get home and start to recover at home, which would be great for him. See his kids, see his family.

“He’s doing better, and just, I think all of us are wishing him a speedy recovery at this point.”

As for Tiger's mental state, McIlroy gave us some clues as to how Tiger's throwing out jabs, even while dealing with an extensive recovery.

“He text me some words of encouragement before the final round of Bay Hill on Sunday and things didn’t quite go to plan, and he was the first one to text me and be like ‘What’s going on here?'” McIlroy added.

“So even from the hospital bed, he’s still giving me some heat.”

In a February 28 social media message, Tiger expressed his appreciation for PGA players wearing red on Sunday in his honor. "To every golfer and every fan, you are truly helping me get through this tough time," he tweeted.
