It's a big day for my family

Later today we're making the drive to go get a puppy. It's been a pretty rough year for my family, excluding the whole COVID stuff. Back in mid-March, literally, as COVID was blowing up, our dog walked up to me as I was working at my desk like she'd done thousands of times and laid down. Lily was dead minutes later as our boys and my wife were feet away on the couches wondering what was wrong with her. It was easily one of the toughest nights I've had in a long time.

Fast-forward to Memorial Day weekend. I take my son to go visit my dad before he undergoes chemo and radiation. Exactly, another gut punch this year. Out of the blue, his neighbors start talking about their friends who are having Goldendoodle puppies. One thing leads to another and my wife is getting puppy photo updates for the last three months.

It's incredibly weird how things like this happen. We weren't actively looking for a new dog. Eventually, a puppy would've been added to the family, but the pieces falling in place as they did seems like fate. If this one is half as great as Lily we're going to have a great addition to the family for our boys to grow up with.
