Real Estate Unhinged: Realtor Murdered By Client Who Was Mad Over House Purchase

The real estate market is super competitive and now it's turning deadly after a Friday night murder-suicide in Virginia where a new homeowner became unhinged at his real estate agent after agreeing to purchase a house.

Investigators say 84-year-old Albert Baglione, who bought a house sight unseen, shot his realtor Soren Arn-Oelschlegel after signing a contract to purchase the house. Police say Baglione became unhappy with the deal and say the shooting could have been the first time client and realtor had even met to go over the house. It's believed the two were doing a final walk-through when the shooting occurred.

"I shot my realtor," Baglione told police before shooting himself Friday night.

WTKR reports that Baglione was from Alabama and moved in Thursday. Investigators believe he called the realtor to the house on Friday to express his displeasure with the purchase.

“Congratulations to my out of town buyer,” Arn-Oelschlegel wrote on Facebook Oct. 5, a day after Baglione purchased the house. “I’m so happy I was able to find him a home that fit his needs.”

At some point, after the house sold, Baglione complained to his son about the purchase, according to the next-door neighbor.

“He said it didn’t look the same as it did in the pictures,” the neighbor told the Virginian-Pilot. “He told his son he was unhappy and that he was going to talk to his agent about it.”

From a quick analysis of the listing, it's unclear what could possibly be off about the house vs. what Baglione found when he showed up to see his new house. It's a 2 bedroom, 1 bath house spread over a minuscule 750 sq. ft. It's not like there's much to hide here.

And if Baglione was upset with the house, why didn't he just relist the house? He paid $160k and Zillow has the Zestimate sitting at $186,300. Talk about an overreaction out of this old-timer. Flip the house, you old codger.

And let's be honest here, the real moron in all of this is Albert who thought it was a smart idea to be buying a house on 1.82 acres at 84 years old. Throw out the whole buying it sight unseen and any beef Albert might've had with his realtor. This moron should've never been looking at nearly two acres and all that overgrowth.
