Rays Troll The Yankees After Winning ALDS, Celebrate To "New York, New York"

Now THIS is how a low budget franchise should celebrate after beating the $109,000,000 Yankees in the ALDS. You want to get my attention with baseball right now? I need a moment like this from San Diego where the "New York New York" blared from the stadium speakers after the Marlins beat the Yankees 2-1 to win the series 3-2 and continue the Yankees World Series drought.

And for good measure, the Marlins, who spent $31 million in salary during 2020, also celebrated to Alicia Keys' hit "Empire State Of Mind."

“Every player is probably going to look themselves in the mirror and evaluate themselves and try to find something to work on to get better for next season,” Yankees starter Gerrit Cole said after the loss. “We didn’t reach the goal, so across the board we need to improve.”

As for the music, drinking and smoking, Cole didn't seem too bothered by it.

“That’s their celebration," Cole said to the press on the postgame Zoom call.

When the Rays beat you eight out of 10 times during the regular season and then end your season, there's not much else to say. You have to sit there and take it.

“To come up short the last couple years, it’s tough,” Aaron Judge said. “These are just scars. They’re just going to continue to make this team stronger and make this team better. It’s just going to make that World Series title that much sweeter in the end.”

The partying then continued with the Rays having a dance-off on Petco Field while the Yankees showered and caught a flight back across the country.
