Ravens QB Lamar Jackson's Contract Negotiations Continue; His Mom Remains In Charge

A new contract for Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is in the works, but the fact that Jackson's mother represents him as his agent might be holding some things up.

With his mom running the show, the NFLPA is concerned that Jackson is not going to get the best deal that he can, which would totally shake up the league.

NFL Insider Jason La Canfora wrote about Jackson and his mom and that, without guidance from the union, it's going to be tough to get the deal that the QB probably deserves.

"And Jackson is being represented by his mom, with zero guidance from the NFLPA (the union has tried to assist to no avail) and the rest of the industry has no idea what this contract will ultimately look like, there is zero flow of information about it in the agent community, and that could hold up the process around the league," La Canfora wrote.

What will the market actually look like for Jackson?

He won't get the Patrick Mahomes deal, which was a 10-year extension worth up to $503 million, the most expensive in North American sports history.

Deshaun Watson, who wants out of Houston, signed a four-year, $156 million extension in September. Dallas QB Dak Prescott got a four-year deal also worth $160 million.

Jackson has been clear that he wants to stay with the Ravens, and Baltimore has said getting a deal done is just a matter of time.

"I would love to be here forever," Jackson said.

"I love Baltimore. I love the whole organization. I love everybody in the building. But hopefully, we’ll be making something happen pretty soon or whenever.”
