Rams WR Robert Woods Tears ACL, Out For Season

Videos by OutKick

Rams receiver Robert Woods reportedly tore his ACL during practice on Friday, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

On the same day Los Angeles made a splash by signing receiver Odell Beckham Jr., Woods suffered the injury. Schefter said that Woods went down but got up and finished practice. Woods conducted interviews with the media after and nobody speculated that anything was wrong. Woods went back for tests which revealed the ACL tear.

Woods’ injury makes the Beckham Jr. signing all that more important as the Rams will now be without their star WR2. Woods has been a model of consistency since coming to Los Angeles in 2017. Woods has 45 receptions for 556 yards and four touchdowns this season.

Woods started the season off slow but has come on the past five games. Cooper Kupp, meanwhile, has been the league’s best receiver this season. Kupp paces the NFL with 103 targets, 74 receptions, 1,019 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Second-year receiver Van Jefferson’s role seems back to where it was, after he was expected to see less playing time with Kupp, Woods and Beckham Jr. in the fold. Head coach Sean McVay said on Friday he was unsure if Beckham Jr. would play on Monday night against the 49ers. He might have to with Woods out for the season.

“We’ll see. We’re going to take it a day at a time,” McVay said. “But if we feel like he can help us go compete against the 49ers, then we’ll have him ready to go.”
