PornHub Releases Its 2021 Analytics...Let's Dig Into The Data!

Clay swears you guys LOVE data...BIG DATA...all sorts of data, so I thought there was no better way to celebrate the end of 2021 than with a look at PornHub's data. There are two leaders in data on the Internet: Google and PornHub. One tells us the stories that will appear on "Good Morning America" while the other predicts what you maniacs will be searching for at 2 a.m. after going home alone from the bar.

Now, when you're diving into the PornHub data, let's keep in mind that the ranking changes you're seeing are versus 2020 when people were laying on the couch for 35 days straight without leaving the house only to go to a convenience store for more beer and chips while trying to avoid coming down with the 'VID.

The HUGE news from 2021 has to be 'Hentai' overtaking 'Japanese' as the world's most searched porn term. It's quite an honor and a category that I have zero experience with. I can 110% confirm that I've never been on a group text with the fellas and brought up the new hentai porn titles that just came out.

But, it's 2021 and it's a new big world out there.

'Pinay' searches -- a woman of Filipino origin or descent; a Filipina -- were up big time this year, moving all the way into the top 5, which is a massive move, especially when it that term is battling against such heavyweights as ebony, asian, threesome, big ass and latina!

As for the top trends of the year, 'How To' video traffic was up 244% vs. 2020. YouTube is helping adults learn how to do things like unclogging garbage disposals while PornHub is handling the sex self-help community.

“The increase in searches of ‘how to’, shows that people are finally feeling more comfortable looking at how to improve their sex lives," Dr. Stacy Friedman, a sex coach and doctor of human sexuality, told PornHub.

"Since the discussion of sex has been taboo for so long, relationships have suffered because there aren’t that many places to learn about sex. Since we have had the pandemic, I believe that couples are realizing they need more help in the bedroom so there is more research out there that they can find information from. People want to know how to enjoy their sexuality more.”

As for the Most Searched Pornstar, that title went to Lana Rhoades, who's no longer in the business. Violet Myers appears to be the breakout star of 2021. She moved up 102 spots on the Most Searched Pornstar list. Rhoades said this year that leaving the industry ended up being the best financial decision of her life.

"I probably had $100,000 in my bank account when I quit shooting porn and now I'm a multi-millionaire," she said in the spring. The money began pouring in after she put in hard work on social media where she can earn $30,000 for Instagram posts to go along with her 25,000 OnlyFans members who pay $5.99 per month.

Just to show you the growth of this industry, there were 1.2 billion Lana Rhoades video views in 2021. In 2017, there were just under 550M video views for Riley Reid, PornHub's Most Searched Pornstar of 2017. In 2015, Kim Kardashian held the top spot while Mia Khalifa came out of nowhere and moved up 197 spots to the No. 2 position.
