Patrick Mahomes' Rookie Card Sells For Mighty Price Of $4.3 Million

The flick of a pen from Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes can turn a slice of paperboard into $4.3 million dollars worth of memorabilia, which is the price that a rookie card recently sold at, announced Wednesday.

The star quarterback's historic career after only four seasons has produced a tremendous turnaround in value for Mahomes merch. With appeal for the player's instant celebrity and record-setting play, and pay, before turning 26, the QB was still left astounded after hearing about pricing for the instant classic.

The trading card's selling price cracks the top five all-time most expensive trading cards. With Mickey Mantle's record-setting '52 Topps card selling at $5.2 million, the most recent runner-up became Luka Doncic's 2018-2019 Panini card that sold for $4.6 million.

With over a decade's worth of game left in Mahomes, the prospects of ballooning trading card prices still see plenty of ceiling left until the new face of football calls it a career.

LJ's Card Shop, new owners of the football history bookmark, shared no reluctance over their payout for the Patrick Mahomes relic. “The 2017 National Treasures NFL Shield Patrick Mahomes Rookie is truly a piece of art and we are honored to add this card to our collection,” they announced.

In 2020, a couple looking to sell an estimated $20,000 worth of Patrick Mahomes trading cards presented an asking price of $7.5 million for their lucrative collection. Claiming to have a number of rare one-offs included in their historical deck, the verified collection was instantly quoted at several millions in worth.
