Packers Emerge As Current Favorites To Sign Free Agent DE J.J. Watt

One has to wonder if J.J. Watt is a fan of cheese.

At least a dozen teams are showing interest in Watt, but one team that has suddenly emerged as the betting favorite to sign Watt are the Green Bay Packers, a team that could use help on the outside of their defensive line.

If you are keeping track, the following teams have all been the favorite to ink Watt at one point or another:

Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, Tennessee Titans, Buffalo Bills.

It seems like the only team that hasn't shown up as a favorite on the list is one of the four squads from the Fan Controlled Football League.

There was a rumor last week that Watt had gotten a $14-$16 million a year offer from a team, but since he's still a free agent, that rumor either isn't true or he wants even more money before inking with a club.

The Packers' current defensive linemen depth chart includes Dean Lowry, Kingsley Keke, and Tyler Lancaster - three players who are not going to make many offenses lose sleep on a nightly basis.

Add Watt to the roster, and things could change in a hurry, but it remains to be seen whether he's serious about playing in the rough and tumble NFC North.

Watt reportedly wants to play for a Super Bowl contender, and the Packers do qualify in that regard. If they can add Watt, they should be the favorites of the NFC in 2021.

Now we shall see if any team steps up and finally closes the deal in signing the future Hall of Famer.
