1. Alabama
The Tide rolled.
Rinse and repeat.
Alabama is 8-0 and has a week off to get ready for LSU. The trip to Auburn on the final week of the season still looms as a big danger, but it's hard to believe Nick Saban's team is going to lose to anyone in the regular season.
2. Penn State
I told y'all Penn State was going to beat Michigan by three touchdowns.
And they did.
Now the Big Ten Championship is being played in Columbus.
Can James Franklin's crew beat Urban Meyer's Buckeyes for a second straight year? It's certainly a tall order. And here's a question for y'all, what if Penn State loses a close game to Ohio State on the road? Don't the Nittany Lions stay alive as a potential playoff team depending on how the rest of the season plays out?
3. Georgia
The Bulldogs had a bye week to get ready for their beat down of Florida, but their resume got quite a bit better with Notre Dame's whipping of USC.
It certainly looks like 12-0 Alabama and 12-0 Georgia are destined to meet in Atlanta for the SEC title game.
And it also looks like the SEC has a pretty decent chance to get two teams in the playoff.
4. TCU
The Horned Frogs handled woeful Kansas but now road games at Iowa State, at Oklahoma and at Texas Tech remain on the schedule.
Plus a rematch against someone in the Big 12 title game.
Is TCU good enough to post a 12-1 record and win the Big 12 title? We'll see. But who would have ever believed this trip to Ames would be this difficult?
5. Oklahoma
The Sooners won another close game in the Big 12.
But does anyone think Oklahoma is really that good? I don't.
6. Ohio State
The Buckeyes had a week off to get ready for the Big Ten title game against Penn State.
I can't wait to see what happens in this one.
7. Notre Dame
I told y'all last week that Notre Dame was the most underrated team in college football. Then the Fighting Irish went out and crushed USC.
Now the question is this, can Notre Dame win its last five games: N.C. State, Wake Forest, at Miami, Navy and at Stanford?
Because an 11-1 Notre Dame is going to be tough to leave out of the playoff. (So, by the way, would a 12-1 Georgia team with a win over an 11-1 Notre Dame.)
8. Miami
The Hurricanes are 6-0 and have a great chance to be 11-0 or 10-1 rolling into the ACC title game with a good shot to advance to the college football playoff.
I continue to root for Miami's college football playoff opponent to be Georgia just to see what happens.
Isn't college football just better when the Hurricanes are good? I think it is.
9. Wisconsin
The Badgers keep winning without playing anyone decent.
Given that Michigan now has two losses it's possible Wisconsin is going to go 12-0 without playing a single top 25 team until the Big Ten title game.
10. Clemson
The Tigers had a week off, but their margin for error was erased in Syracuse. Can Clemson finish 12-1 and win the ACC title? They'd better, because otherwise a third straight trip to the college football playoff is impossible.
