On today’s Outkick the Show, Clay Travis discussed the fallout surrounding the announcement of Andrew Luck’s retirement on Saturday. Clay wondered how Adam Schefter got the tip and why it was leaked while Luck was on the field. Clay didn’t question whether or not he should have tweeted it when he did, but, rather, why the leak occurred when it did. This, said Travis, changed the nature of the press conference to announce his retirement. As a result, Luck was booed by his home crowd and then the official announcement was rushed. Clay holds the position Luck will return to the Colts after a short retirement.

Clay also talked about week 0 of the 2019 college football season, and, while he would like to see a full day of football in the opening week in seasons to come, Clay bemoaned the poor performance by Florida and Miami. Clay then broke down Arizona’s loss to Hawaii in the other game of week 0, and pointed out the ongoing struggle the Pac-12 is experiencing with talent and performance.

Clay addressed Desmond Howard’s joke from Saturday’s College Gameday, and was encouraged by the lack of outrage from the public. Precedent matters, said Travis, and ESPN did the right thing by 

Clay concluded by recognizing the massive pay day for Rory McIlroy over the weekend, taking home $15 million in his victory in the FedEx Cup.
