This week, America’s favorite sportsbook, FanDuel Sportsbook, is giving new users three opportunities to win $150 on only a $5 bet. That’s a ridiculous 30-1 odds boost just for signing up. All you have to do is pick the outright winner of either Packers-Chiefs, Texans-Dolphins, or Patriots-Panthers. You don’t want to pass on this one.
JETS @ COLTS, under 45.5
The Jets are a live one tonight, getting double-digits on a short week. The Jets did a lot of good things that led to Mike White getting a boatload of yards (405) against Cincinnati and using his running backs as very viable receiving options. They’ll try to lean on a Colts team that had warmed up after after starting 0 and 3. They battled back to win 3 of 4 before falling to the Titans on Sunday.
The Colts aren’t great at home, allowing 23 points per and if you remove the Texan excuse of an effort, the Colts are surrendering 29.7 a game at home. The Jets don’t score much ANYWHERE but Mike Effin’ White magic might help us here, if we stay away from taking the OVER on a short week. Road dogs have covered in 5 of the 7 games thus far on Thursday Night Football, but I am going to watch a game where two emotionally hung over teams battle for 60 minutes and never quite get oiled up and loose. UNDER 45.5.
GEORGIA STATE @ LOUISIANA (-12.5), TOTAL 53.5
Louisiana has bit me before when taking the UNDER. A lot signs sure point to it again tonight, but I refuse to play their game. I am focusing my energy on the spread. The momentum of Louisiana is undeniable right now. After a disappointing loss to Texas to open the season and a lethargic win against FCS Nicholls State, they Cajuns have been humming beating good and bad teams and even though a couple of the scores have looked closer than they probably should have, they have a target on their back too. They are attempting to get back to the Sun Belt Championship game, but they aren’t there yet.
Georgia State is 3-1 inside the Sun Belt and they still have title game aspirations too. Georgia State has only allowed three touchdowns in their last two games, both wins and against Texas State and Georgia Southern, admittedly bad teams. The Panthers are a frustrating team to get a beat on, but they have been running literally all over their competition lately, averaging 282 yards a game during their current 3-game winning streak. I feel like 12.5 is too much for a team this red-hot on the ground BUT Louisiana is that team right now and I’ll run with them to cover and run with the trend that they have covered 3 of their 4 games at home.
THUNDER @ LAKERS (-13)
There’s not a lot to say on this game. It’s a horrible spot for Oklahoma City because they decided not to quit when trailing by 26 against L.A. eight days ago. They came all the way back and won AND the homecoming of Russell Westbrook was tainted when he was tossed from the game. Revenge factor, check. Practically speaking this is the third of three road games out on the coast and even though they fought hard, they lost the other two to Golden State and then the other L.A. team. The Lakers have been at home ever since losing to OKC and I am sure stewing. Lakers by a billion.
